Toynbee-Hall-cover.pngThis research challenges the common assumption that people naturally save more as they get older and earn more.

Building on Toynbee Hall's qualitative study (Packman 2017), previously identified typologies of saving behaviours are used to better understand people’s actual savings patterns and explore how to help people save.

Specifically, this research aims to:

  • Quantify our previous typology of savers
  • Understand better saving behaviours and motivations, and
  • Explore how people can be better supported to save.
